About the intention behind the educational design of this platform:

I believe that human evolution requires individual responsibility and collaboration. All of which happens through what I define as learning. As an educational designer, this platform has the intention to facilitate learning in its various forms and beauties:

About the author:

I am Arnaud Coquillard, I have created this platform based on all the knowledge and skills I gathered in my life. Professionally I work as a secondary school substitute teacher (specialised in Science, Health and Physical Education) in Gympie and as an educational designer, making platforms like this one for others. Contact me if you are interested in creating an Open Learning Network. I live on a small hobby farm in Australia (in the Mary Valley, south of Gympie and north from Namgyalgar) with my family. Everything you will learn from this platform is rooted in what I have learnt from my teachers Chögyal Namkhai Norbu and Namkhai Yeshi. May I dedicate all the work I am doing on this platform to their happiness and the happiness of all sentient beings.

About the platform:

This platform was created with a lot of care over a 6 months period in trying to be as transparent, accessible and ethical as possible with my means.

  • I use a self hosted platform instead of a SaaS for social interactivity and online course (LMS) in order to keep all your information private and not in the hand of any companies. Your information are solely seen by me for educational purposes.
  • I use Krystal as my hosting server. Krystal is a leading hosting company which uses 100% of renewable energy and has some deep ethical policies.
  • From this self-hosted platform, I can make this platform accessible to many different languages that most SaaS can’t.
  • From this self-hosted platform, everything is flexible and able to change to the circumstances of the time. For example I can add various educational softwares (like H5P) to make the learning content with high interactivity and quality.
  • I use this self-hosted platform to store all medias, videos and my own coding for all the subtitles instead of using other platform like Youtube, or Vimeo. Media viewing uses a lot of energy. Having it self-hosted means that I upload small size media and all of the energy required comes from the ethical – energy renewable server I chose, Krystal.
  • I try to maintain the running and maintenance cost as low as possible to make this platform as sustainable as possible. I created and maintain this platform on my own in my spare time to reduce cost. I use only open source software (free of cost) and softwares that have lifetime licenses (to avoid recurring cost). The first year setup was around US$1,500 while the yearly cost from now on will be at US$315 (depending on hosting service fees change). Feel free to donate now if you feel like it.
